myQ Data and Privacy Policies
Coupon data at myQ is stored in an industry standard relational database. The following fields are present for each coupon in your virtual inventory.
- UPC CODE (The bar code) This unique 12 digit number is printed
right on the coupon. We use it in the myQ internal records to eliminate duplicates and quickly identify a single record. This field is optional for user-stored records and may be omitted or used for another purpose. Up to 20 alpha/numeric characters are stored.
- Brand. The brand name associated with the product. Example: Pillsbury
Most brands are stored for lookup. You may enter any value but we recommend the look up results for uniform spelling. Our internal policy is to use the most recognizable form of the brand name. Example "Special K" would be used rather than Kellog since branding is intense. For a lesser known Kellog product, Kellog would be the preferred brand name.
- Product. The specific product that must be purchased. Example: Grands Biscuits. This description is normally taken directly from the coupon wording.
- Coupon value values are stored as whole cents with no decimal. Example 50 cents is stored as 50, one dollar ($1.00) is stored as 100, $10.00 as 10000 ETC.
- Expiration. The last date the coupon can be used (some internet coupons expire
a certain number of days after printing) Dates must be entered in the form mm/dd/yy.
- Type. The type of coupon (or any restriction) Example:
buy 2 or B1G1 We recommend our standard abbreviations
but you may use any text of three characters or more for your personal records.
- Category. Our database groups coupons into three general categories:
Grocery, Household and Beauty/Health These are stored as abbreviations but you may use any alpha identifier for this field. Please be aware that the system is not currently
capable of sorting or filtering by user-supplied category names.
- Source. Where the coupon can be obtained. Example:
Online, Red Plum ETC. Also abbreviated for stock records but you may use other designations of at least three characters in your personal records.
- Store. Provided if coupon is store-specific. Example: Target
*NOTE Use the reclassify feature to add favorite store info
- Notes. Extra information and reports of problems. Up to 255 characters
is available for user notes.
* Commas, quotes, apostrophes and other special characters are problematic
when converting data between formats so are not allowed in most fields.
*two character abbreviations are reserved for standardized system use. If you do not use
system abbreviations for your inventory, please use
three characters or more.
